They needed a logo, website and business cards that demonstrated their professionalism and to help build trust in potential clients.

I heard the story about guitars4troops on an NPR radio segment, and was very impressed with the idea. I visited the website and saw that it was a very basic website that, with all of its media coverage, had much more potential to generate more exposure and update the look than was currently being utilized. I emailed Robin Weber, the owner of the website and operator of guitars4troops to see if she would be interested in working with me to revamp the website.

Both my parents served in the military, so I know how important supporting our troops overseas is. My father missed us tremendously while in service in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War, and if providing a simple relief like a guitar can help him, I think that organizing to send guitars is an effort worth supporting.

I also play guitar myself, and have since I was 12 or 13, (I’m 29 now). The endeavor resonated doubly with me as both a guitar player, and a family member of two parents who took time away from their children to serve.

I donated my time and services to recreate the guitars4troops website. I used WordPress to allow a dialog via comments to posts between those donating guitars and the servicemen and women who were receiving them overseas. This was a great opportunity to combine several passions of mine, music, design, and a desire to support those who leave their lives and families to serve for us back at home.

This project consisted of a rebranding of the company, and a simplification of the ordering process of their previous website. A more robust ecommerce solution was implemented, and the purchasing process was streamlined to increase user conversions and expand to new markets.

The solution was to create a content managed site, with a clean, modern aesthetic.

The solution was to create a custom WordPress theme with heavy custom illustration that would appeal to a collegiate aesthetic.

The client needed a easy solution to publish their self produced video episodes to their website. Updates are made on a weekly basis, so a content management system was built with the ability to quickly and simply embed video onto the front page, and archive older episodes. A blog was also included to help promote new episodes and features.

Episodes are 4-8 minutes in length and are rated MA for strong language.

Part of the Green Options network of  environmentally-focused blogs, The Inspired Economist needed a logo and branding package that illustrated the ties between positive business practices and eco-friendly decisions. This design will then need to fit into the Green Options network branding design structure.

A custom WordPress theme was designed and coded, and launched onto the Green Options network.

Initially I was contracted to create a static design, but a few years later, I was asked to convert the site into a content managed site, so that they could update their website with new artwork and car show appearances.

I was asked to update the old Urban Vocab website with a slew of new features. The main addition was a custom drag and drop application that would allow users to intuitively pick and choose letters from Iona Miller’s library of over 900 images, organized by letters, number, symbols and color ways. I found an excellent solution in jQuery’s drag and drop functionality, allowing users an enjoyable interaction where they find letters from a selection palette, and drag them to the artboard, where they can then drag and rearrange the letters to create a nearly infinite combination of custom art pieces. Users can then select framing and matte options, all of which update pricing real time to give site visitors instant feedback on their purchase options and pricing.

A standard cart was also implemented for hundreds of additional Urban Vocab products like framed photographic art, sticker sets, free downloads and more.  The site was built with a content management system, so Urban Vocab can constantly update the site with new products, content and freebies.
